About my love for clothing/fashion: It's engrained in me, in the blood; I couldn't have stopped the urge if I had tried. I have family members (including my phenomenal Nephew), some of whom I did not know had careers in fashion until after I started my own journey. I come from a family of artists, engaging in all types of mediums- from fine artists, fashion designers, graphic artists, musically inclined (self-taught), writers, and painters.
My passion began before I can remember. I say that because I have been a fashion maven since I was 13, and started dressing myself. My mother's friends called me: '....the one who had expensive taste.' I was thirteen years old, and only blushed, because I had no idea what that meant.
When I became an adult, I realized exactly what it meant. I remember knowing what I liked, and because it wasn't my money, as a youth, I picked what I was drawn to. When I was 18, and mother took me shopping for riding boots (which I specifically wanted), I remember seeing around 6 different riding boots to choose from- without knowing the prices- I was drawn to the most expensive ones- it was organic, and consistent.
I started designing clothing after I had my first child. I made patterns from newspapers and brown paper bags. I immediately started designing for others soon after.
I later made the decision to attend University, in order to learn the industry way of doing things.
